Investing in a security system for your home is always a good idea, but there are times when the interior devices and control panels can be really obvious in a room, spoiling your aesthetics.
According to Property Reporter, one in 10 Brits relocate for safety reasons, and no matter how relatively safe the area you live in is, an alarm system can help alleviate fears. But you don’t want to live in a house that feels like a prison of your own making. We have a few ways to help disguise your security measures to keep your house feeling like a home.
1. Choose a small CCTV
CCTV systems used to be big, bulky pieces of equipment, and many people think that is still the case today. But there are now so many smaller, palm your hand size cameras on the market, that can be placed discretely in corners of a room and near entrance ways that no one will ever really notice.
2. Hide your alarm system
If your alarm system panel is on a wall, it might not look too appealing. One idea is to use a trick picture frame to hide the panel. Create a ‘box’ frame around the alarm system, with a hinged photo frame front that can open to reveal the alarm panel.
3. Choose a magnetic alarm in the same colour as your windows
Magnetic alarms that detect when someone opens a window or door are very handy, but unfortunately, many of them are cheap white plastic units. Not all brands offer this limited range, so try and source ones that are the same colour as your window frame, or spray paint white ones to match.
Of course, you never want to disguise your alarm systems to the point it compromises their functionality, your home security and safety is paramount, but you also deserve to feel comfortable in your own home.
